Nexor Watchman for UAG Launches at Microsoft Global Summit in Atlanta

Industrial strength information assurance for a broad market of security conscious customers

Microsoft certified partner, Nexor, the company that connects, transforms and protects sensitive information for defence, security and resilience programmes, announces the launch of Nexor Watchman for Microsoft’s Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG).

In today’s collaborative world, where information sharing is the norm, data loss prevention is high on most organisations’ agendas, especially data at high levels of classification. In-depth knowledge and years of experience in creating secure solutions for the high assurance markets, has led Nexor to adapt its Watchman guard technology for use with Forefront UAG. The UAG provides a general framework to allow authenticated remote clients to securely access data behind a corporate firewall. The addition of Nexor Watchman for Forefront UAG ensures that the data being accessed is authorised for release via the remote channel. For example, a company confidential document or email may be prevented from being accessed remotely over the Internet, whereas documents or emails identified as unclassified will be allowed.

Wayne Phillips, Microsoft’s Director Worldwide Defence Solutions, comments “Microsoft is delighted to be working with Nexor as a part of the Secured Unified Communications solutions area. Nexor is rightly recognised as a leader in information assurance for organisations who greatly value a high level of security and confidentiality for their information systems. By building upon Microsoft Forefront UAG COTS software, Nexor and Microsoft are now able to make this industrial-strength information assurance available to a broad market of security conscious customers. With its simple operation for both users and administrators and its tight integration with the Microsoft platform, Nexor Watchman for UAG is a massive step forward for any organisation looking to take information security to the next level.”

Colin Robbins, Nexor’s CTO comments: “This is a really exciting development for Nexor, expanding our proven market position in messaging guards into the more challenging data guard arena. With Nexor’s modular architecture approach to security policy, we have rapidly integrated our security labelling and access control enforcement expertise to the Microsoft Forefront UAG platform to solve a key piece of the jigsaw of a pan-government problem”.

UAG, part of the Microsoft Forefront™ line of business security products, provides Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) virtual private network functionality, a web application firewall and endpoint security management capabilities.

Nexor Announces Support for International Labelling

In response to market demand, Nexor has implemented various enhancements to its Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software portfolio to support international labelling. The new functionality enables mapping of any national label to any other national label, independent of the syntax or the language of the label presented. This means that nations can use their own national labelling policies and formats and use Nexor border security devices to transparently interpret each label and map between national formats as required. This facility is a major enabler of interoperability, which is essential in today’s world of collaboration and cooperation against increasing enemy threat.

PuriFile Integrated with Nexor Sentinel 3 Mailguard

Nexor, the company that connects, transforms and protects sensitive information for defence, security and resilience programmes, announced today that it has successfully integrated ITT’s PuriFile® file inspection application into its mailguard, Nexor Sentinel Version 3.

Widely deployed in high assurance, cross domain environments, Nexor Sentinel connects and protects messaging domains by preventing data loss via email and protecting an organisation from downstream denial-of-service attacks. Sentinel 3 uses the SE Linux secure operating system to enforce network separation of the connected domains, while the mail guard application ensures only policy conformant messages can pass between these connected networks.

"We've chosen to integrate ITT's PuriFile software as an additional filter component with Nexor Sentinel 3 in response to customer demand to deliver a deep document inspection capability for hidden data", comments Colin Robbins, Chief Technology Officer at Nexor.

ITT's PuriFile software is a file inspection application that performs deep analysis of various Microsoft Office file formats and .pdf files. The software detects and identifies hidden objects and metadata, which could accidentally or maliciously disclose sensitive information or confidential digital assets that would otherwise go unnoticed in typical review processes. Nexor Sentinel is the latest in a growing number of government and commercial products to use ITT's PuriFile application for deep content inspection of files before transfer.

“We are pleased that Nexor has selected PuriFile for their document inspection tool of choice” said Scott Patrick, Director of the Information Protection and Sharing department at ITT. “PuriFile has been selected by major CDS providers in the U.S. and now this selection by Nexor, for the European market, further substantiates PuriFile as a global leader for document inspection and hidden data detection.”

ITT's PuriFile inspection tool exists as a stand-alone product, but the availability of an Application Programming Interface (API) allows it to be easily incorporated into a wide variety of transfer and inspection systems. PuriFile also provides additional tools and mechanisms for easy integration into existing active directory systems for user identification.
