Versant and Nexor announce resellers agreement for Versant to resell enterprise level directory services
Fremont, California, 22 April 2002 - Versant Corporation, a leading provider of middleware infrastructure technology, and Nexor, a leading provider of high-tolerance messaging and directory solutions, today announced a reseller’s agreement. As part of the worldwide agreement, Versant will resell Nexor Directory, a scalable LDAP and X.500 directory server.
'Nexor is a long standing customer of Versant’s,' said Adrian Jones, Versant Vice President and Managing Director for Europe. 'The company embeds the Versant object database into its solutions to build a differentiable and enterprise-strength directory service solution with high performance and scalability capabilities. These requirements are increasingly important for conducting eBusiness or, in the case of government, eGovernment.'
Continued Steve Kingan, Nexor's Chief Executive Officer, 'We specialise in delivering secure messaging solutions to the financial services, defence and federal government industries. For example, Nexor was selected by the Canadian Government’s Federation Infrastructure National Directory Services (FINDS) to help identify and enable government employees to conduct secure transactions. The national directory service will store and quickly locate information on employees, as well as security-related information such as public keys. With this information, eGovernment transactions and requests for information can be digitally signed and employees’ identities positively confirmed.'
Versant Developer Suite (VDS), now in its sixth generation, is the industry's only truly scalable, enterprise-capable object database management system. It has been designed to ease development and enhance performance in complex, distributed, Java and/or C++ environments. Through features such as online schema evolution, dual caching, replication and fault tolerance, Versant customers have enjoyed superior performance, reliability and scalability, reduced development times and the ability to adapt to changing business conditions.
Nexor Directory implements the Internet LDAP standard, enhanced with the X.500 directory standards to provide a fully distributed directory model. It incorporates Internet Lightweight Directory Interchange Format (LDIF) for data import/export; the Directory Information Shadowing Protocol (DISP) for the replication of data to other DISP-conformant servers to increase reliability, reduce response waiting times and lower network usage costs. A standards-based access control policy for limiting access to sensitive corporate data is also incorporated. This can all be managed from a www.management client.
