Nexor provides Military Message Handling System (MMHS) for the Canadian Department of National Defence
London, UK, 17 October 2001 - Nexor, a leading supplier of secure messaging and directory solutions, will deliver commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products for the standards-based electronic messaging and directory components of a Military Message Handling System (MMHS) for the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND). This will be delivered in partnership with systems integrator, General Dynamics (previously Motorola).
The Nexor solution consists of leading-edge, standards-based messaging technology that will:
- Originate and receive ACP 123-based messages, S/MIME v3 with ESS encrypted and signed X.400 messages, delivery reports and return receipts
- Use X.500 and LDAP Directory services to support X.400 message routing and X.509 certificate management
- Send messages to and receive messages from the ACP 123-based messaging systems through a Multi Function Gateway
- Send messages to and receive messages from unrestricted networks through a Trusted Gateway
- Send a notification message to a user's unrestricted address when a secret message is received.
Microsoft Exchange is now widely accepted as the standard email platform for defence as well as commerce. However, to meet the demands of a secure messaging solution, the system will be built on Nexor messaging and directory technology in a Microsoft Windows 2000 / Exchange 2000 environment.
In addition to Nexor Mailer and Nexor Directory, Nexor is providing COTS products that will extend the functionality of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange. This gives the solution the required levels of security, enables the users of the system to use existing COTS product knowledge and allows the new system to interoperate with existing legacy systems.
